The Exhibition Grounds land lease given to the Exhibition Society would be extended by another 50 years and the orders would be issued within a week, said former Home Minister and society president K. Jana Reddy here on Monday.
Once the orders were obtained, the society would construct permanent structures on the 23-acre Exhibition Grounds premises to earn revenue.
The new structures would include parking lots, seminar halls, toilets, stalls and other amenities for convenience of visitors , he informed.
“Already a committee was constituted to design a blue print of the structures. The society would construct the structures using its revenue reserves and loans from banks,” said Mr. Reddy while addressing at the Osmania Graduates' Association (OGA) souvenir release function.
Mr. Reddy urged the OGA to expand its services to society and emphasise on creating employment opportunities. OGA should strive for social, financial and political reformation and set a benchmark for other universities to emulate its good work, he said.
OGA president S. Padma Rao said over 25 professors and academicians were included as members last year to serve in the governing bodies of the association.
He said the membership of OGA was increased to 1,600 from a mere 500 a few years back for taking up different welfare programmes.
The OGA's year-long platinum jubilee celebrations concluded with the release of the souvenir, which compiles OGA's activities and messages from academicians and experts from different fields.
