A few houses were inundated following leakage in a water pipline at Chandrayangutta in the early hours of Wednesday. The incident took place at around 2 a.m. when a subsidiary pipeline running parallel to the big pipeline of Krishna Phase I burst due to high pressure.

Locals said that soon water entered into a of couple houses situated near the spot. “We were woken up by a loud noise. Soon water started gushing into our house and we rushed out of the house,” said Abdullah Nambair a resident of Al Jubail Colony. He claimed that his household articles got damaged in the incident.

The local police who arrived at the spot immediately informed the HMWSSB officials, who rushed to the spot and closed down the values of the pipeline. Later, they began repair works.

Although the incident took place in a low-lying area not much damage was reported as a large volume of water flowed down through an open drain running in the colony.

“It will take at least two days for repair works to get completed. Till then water supply will be continued through tankers,” said an HMWS&SB official.
