Law graduates can now assist HC judges

Young law graduates can now apply for work as law clerks of the High Court judges. The Telangana and Andhra Pradesh State governments have decided to allow fresh law graduates who are yet to enrol as advocates in the Bar Council to assist the judges for a period of one year for a monthly stipend.

As per the Government Order 45, the law candidates should not have reached 30 years of age as on January 1 or July 1 preceding the last date fixed for submission of applications.

Qualification

The applicants should have completed Intermediate education. They should have a degree in law from a recognised university after having completed a five-year regular stream law course. The applicants should also have passed the law degree within two years immediately preceding the date of notification for selection of law clerks.

The candidates should not be pursuing any other course of study or occupation which may require them to be away from their place of work during the period of engagement as law clerks. They should also not have enrolled as an advocate in any of the State Bar Councils.
