Labourer held for rape of 5-year-old

A labourer from Narsimha street in Nallakunta, Venkatesham, was detained for questioning by the Nallakunta police on Thursday for raping a five-year-old girl of the same locality two days ago.

While parents were away

The girl’s parents, also labourers, were away at their work place when the accused lured the girl playing outside the house, to an isolated place on Tuesday afternoon and sexually assaulted her, Nallakunta Inspector V. Jayapal Reddy said.

On learning of the incident, the girl’s parents approached the police on Wednesday leading to registration of rape case.

The girl identified the accused as Venkatesham who was detained and was being questioned when reports last came in.
