Telangana IT Minister K.T. Rama Rao met several industry leaders in the US on the tenth day of his visit on Friday including Cisco CEO and Chairman John Chambers, Sun Microsystems co-founder Vinod Khosla and former CEO and Chairman of General Electric Jack Welch.
He also visited the Experience Centre at the headquarters of Cisco and participated in a meeting conducted by TiE (The Indus Entrepreneurs) with the world best 50 start-ups. During his meeting with Cisco chief at San Jose in California, Mr. Rama Rao gave a presentation on the investment opportunities in Telangana and the new industrial policy formulated by the State Government.
Mr. Rama Rao later claimed that Mr. Chambers expressed interest on several features of Telangana’s industrial policy and complimented for the effort. Mr. Rama Rao invited the Cisco CEO to visit Hyderabad once to explore the possibilities as part of the company’s expansion plans.
Later, the IT Minister called on the former CEO of GE that had made a reputation in electrical, aviations and transport sectors. The Minister said it was during Mr. Welch’s tenure the value of GE had increased about 4,000 per cent. At the TiECon meet conducted by TiE at Santa Clara convention centre, the Minister explained about the T-Hub initiative of the Telangana Government.
Later in the evening, Mr. Rama Rao called on Mr. Vinod Khosla.
