KTR hints at becoming Industries Minister

May 28, 2014 12:14 am | Updated 12:14 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Sircilla MLA K. Taraka Rama Rao dropped enough hints that he will be the new Industries Minister in K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s government, which will assume office on June 2.

He told a meeting of industrialists here on Monday that “there will be a friend of yours in the new government in the form of me.” He promised to take their delegation to his father KCR after the latter takes over as the Chief Minister to discuss their problems.

Mr. Rama Rao told The Hindu that the swearing-in ceremony of KCR at Raj Bhavan will be a low-key affair to be attended by about 700 invitees. There is a lot of demand for the passes, he said.

KCR and 14 Ministers are likely to be sworn-in at 8.15 a.m. Those who are certain to get the Ministerial berths are: T. Harish Rao, Mr. Rama Rao, Etela Rajender, S. Jagadishwar Reddy, Koppula Eshwar, T. Rajaiah, Padma Devender Reddy or Babu Mohan, K. Swamy Goud, T. Padma Rao, Jogu Ramanna, Jalagam Venkat Rao, Jupally Krishna Rao and P. Mahender Reddy.

The names of Pocharam Srinivas Reddy and T. Chandulal are doing the rounds for the post of Speaker. But one of them could be made a Minister.

Mr. Harish Rao is expected to get the key portfolios of power, irrigation and agriculture while Mr. Rajender is sounded out for home though he is keen on finance. Sources said Mr. Jagadishwar Reddy might get revenue and panchayat raj, Mr. Rajaiah medical and health and Mr. Padma Rao could get excise portfolio.
