The Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) has asked the A.P. Government to stop drawal of water from Pothireddypadu Head Regulator “with immediate effect” since excess quantity of water has already been drawn from the system against the water release request and order for 5 TMC ft. In a letter addressed to the Engineer-in-Chief (Irrigation) of AP, Member-Secretary of KRMB Samir Chatterjee said on Tuesday that it was observed from the daily data from flood control officials that the water releases from Pothireddypadu had crossed 12.436 TMC ft at 6 am on October 3 against the water release order of 5 TMC ft. Even the 5 TMC ft water included 1.5 TMC ft already drawn by AP from the system.

Earlier, Engineer-in-Chief (Irrigation) of Telangana C. Muralidhar brought the issue of over drawal of water by AP from Pothireddypadu by writing a letter to KRMB again on Tuesday.
