The lowest tender bids for the Rs. 1,670-crore Krishna Drinking Water Project phase III were finalised at a marathon session here on Thursday. Out of the ten packages only eight were finalised.
The tender committee disqualified all the three bidders for the package V and decided to retender the work while package II bids were still under evaluation.
For laying the pumping mains in package I the tender committee approved the joint venture bids of M/s Koya Construction Company Ltd-SMC, Indian Hume Pipe. For executing the package III works bids of BRCCPL-TAINFRA-RVR were approved.
The committee approved the bids of IHP-Vishwa for package IV, M/s Megha Engineering Infrastructure Ltd-SMC-SNT for package VI, SSC-CMR for package VII, MEIL-Kirloskar Brothers Ltd for package VIII, MEIL-KCCL for package IX and X.
The project involves laying pipeline for a distance of 110 km from Kodandapur in Nalgonda to Sahebnagar in Ranga Reddy district.
The other components include construction of raw water intake-cum-pumping stations at Sunkesula in Nalgonda district, construction of treatment plants and pumping equipment at Kodandapur, Narsapally, Godakondla and a master balancing reservoir at Gungal.
The Krishna phase III aims at bringing an additional 90 mgd water to the city.
The total allocation for drinking water needs of Hyderabad from Krishna is 16.5 tmc. Already 11 tmc of water is being drawn through phase I and II.
