The yatra will traverse through five cities to culminate in the Agri-Innovation Conclave in New Delhi on May 19

A ‘Krishi Parivartan Yatra’ showcasing success stories of the National Agriculture Innovation Project (NAIP) was flagged off from the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (Icrisat) here on Sunday.

The NAIP, a World Bank-funded project of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), promotes awareness among farmers, youth and entrepreneurs on the potential opportunities in agri-business, nurtures agri-innovators and also creates awareness on various business incubation services offered by the Business Planning and Development (BPD) unit.

The yatra flagged off on Sunday would present 50 farmers who had benefitted from NAIP and traverse through five cities to culminate into the Agri-Innovation Conclave in New Delhi on May 19, according to a press release.

The BPD units in various agricultural universities and research institutes act as agriculture incubation centres to help start-ups and entrepreneurs foraying into agri-business by providing business consultancy, mentoring, facilitate funding and access to infrastructure and facilities.

These units cover an entire spectrum of agriculture, including crops, horticulture, veterinary and livestock, fisheries and marine products, animal husbandry, crop production, food processing and agricultural engineering, the release added.
