In a move to instil confidence among the land oustees that the Government will stand by them, efforts are on to show a place or two for them where the proposed double bed-room houses are to be constructed. Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) Vijayender Reddy took a group of people from three villages- Mamidyal, Bailampur and Thanedarpally, that would get submerged under the proposed Kondapochamma reservoir – to the Tunkibolaram panchayat limits near Ontimamidi and showed about 150 acres of land which would be allotted as plots to the land oustees. Once the site is finalised, work will be taken up by the officials.

However, it was informed that the land was already assigned to some persons in the past and the Government has to take it back and re-allocate to the oustees.

“We are satisfied with the site shown by the officials. It is located about 1.5 km from Vantimamidi on Medchal Road, we hope that the work would commence shortly,” said Bhupal Reddy, sarpanch of Mamidyal, who was part of the team which visited the proposed site. “We have identified three places - Mulugu, Ontimamidi and Tunkibolaram – to provide plots to the land oustees under Kondapochamma. It was estimated that we have to construct about 1,300 double bed-room houses for the oustees of three villages. We will commence the work once they finalise the place where they want the houses constructed,” District Collector P. Venkataram Reddy told The Hindu .

Asked about the fate of Mallannasgar oustees who were also given similar promise almost a year ago, Mr. Venkataram Reddy said that the oustees were yet to come to a conclusion on the proposed site and once it was finalised, the Government was ready to take up the work.
