Koil Sagar to provide water to several villages

Several villages in Mahabubnagar district will get drinking water this summer following successful completion of the trial runs of the pumpsets of the second stage of the Rs.458-crore Koil Sagar lift irrigation project on Friday.

As result of the successful completion of trial runs, Krishna water lifted from Jurala dam reservoir at Nagiredddypalli is flowing in the entire stretch of the project’s 45-km long canal which includes 10-km long excavated tunnels in two patches.

According to an official release, the trial runs were conducted by a group of engineers for two days under direct supervision of Chief Engineer (Projects), Irrigation, Mahabubnagar.

Of the additional 50,000 acres ayacut, the project is expected to stabilise, it is planned to extend irrigation benefit to 20,000 acres from this kharif.
