Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy on Sunday strongly warned troublemakers against breaking law and order in the city and said that peace would be maintained at any cost.
“While democratic means of protest will be allowed, we will not tolerate if there is a breakdown in law and order,” he said, in a veiled reference to recent incidents and agitations in the capital.
Addressing a public meeting after unveiling the plaque for launching of metro rail works, girders launcher and foundation stone for the radial road at the Uppal depot, he made it clear that those creating trouble would be put in jail.
“We will not bow or fear anyone. I have to take care of the common people in the city,” he averred. The metro rail project foundation stone laying ceremony was delayed for various reasons, he pointed out and was sure that when completed it would ferry 15 lakh passengers a day.
“We are going about the project in a methodical and transparent manner. The government will have to pay Rs.33 lakh a day in case of a delay while the L&T Metro Rail will have to pay Rs.64 lakh a day,” he explained.
Mr. Reddy assured that plots would be developed for all those who had given up their lands for the project very soon.
“I am a Hyderabadi as I was born here and brought up here. I have a responsibility to make use of my position to develop the city into a world class one with the best of infrastructure,” he said.
ORR
“The Outer Ring Road (ORR) will be completed in all respects by next year end, first phase of Godavari water will be ready in the same time frame while the work on Krishna water phase three is on. The National Institute of Design (NID) and the Life Sciences University are setting up their respective campuses while several other top global universities are keen to come here,” he said.
Hyderabad Metro Rail Managing Director N.V.S. Reddy said the actual lifting of the heavy launching girder (34 metres/112ft & 300 tones) by massive hydraulic lifts and the viaduct segments (each 34 tones and three metres length) would be done during the night for safety reasons.
The entire length of 72 km would be done in a precast segmental construction. The launching girder would be first erected on two pillars when segments would be lifted and slung to the launching girders and moved to their respective positions.
