After much delay, things appear to be falling in place for construction of an Inter-City Bus Terminal (ICBT) at Miyapur, with Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy approving the project to be taken up under public-private-partnership mode.
To be developed in an area of about one lakh square feet, ICBT will have 200 bus bays and platforms for outstation buses. It will provide parking space for 1,000 buses and 20 bus bays for city buses, fuel stations, dormitories for drivers, budget hotels, police outpost, medical and emergency facilities etc.
The objective behind taking up the project was to ease pressure on the already choking city road network, besides providing connectivity to outstation buses from the city.
4th meeting of HMDA
The project was approved by Mr. Reddy, who chaired the 4th meeting of Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority held on Monday at Secretariat.
During the meeting it was also approved to construct logistic parks at Batasingaram on Vijayawada Highway and Managalapally on Nagarjunasagar Highway near ORR Bangalore junction.
The logistic park at Batasingaram, to come up in an area of about 40 acres, will feature parking space for 500 trucks, two lakh square feet space of warehouse facility, 10,000 MTs of cold storage provision, restaurants, fuel stations, primary health centre etc.
Likewise, the one at Managalapally to be constructed in over 22 acres of land will provide parking space for 250 trucks, one lakh square feet warehouse facility and other facilities.
Further, the Chief Minister instructed the officials to speed up the work on ORR and work on the Dindigul-Shamirpet stretch of the project. Later, he reviewed the progress of works pertaining to construction of ROB across the railway line on spinal road from KPHB to Hitec city, completion of ramps at PVNR Expressway, inner ring road to Mylardevpally via Laxmiguda, Jalpally and Mamidipally to Srisailam Highway.
Authorities have also extended the last date for submission of suggestions and objections on the Draft Metropolitan Plan -2031 to February 21, said a press release.
