The Nehru Zoological Park, which recently acquired a pair each of King Cobra and Whitaker’s Boa, released them in the reptile house on Wednesday.

According to officials, the snakes were brought here under an animal exchange agreement with the Pilikula Zoo, Mangalore. In return, a pair of sloth bears was sent. “King Cobra and Whitaker’s Boa are two good additions for the zoo as we did not have them here for some time,” an official said. The Whitaker’s Boa belongs to the family of non-venomous snakes and feeds on rats and mice.
