A 16-year-old girl died under suspicious circumstances at her residence in Gudimalla village in Khammam rural mandal on Tuesday.

The incident sparked tension in the village as the relatives of the deceased staged a protest in front of the house of a local youth holding him responsible for her death. The deceased was identified as Challa Yashoda, 16, of Gudimalla.

Yashoda was found hanging in her room under suspicious circumstances when her parents returned home from agriculture field in the afternoon, sources said.

As the news spread across, the relatives of the deceased staged a demonstration in the village late on Tuesday evening seeking a detailed inquiry into the incident.

The demonstrators alleged that the body of Yashoda bore some injury marks and they pointed a finger of suspicion at a local youth. The Khammam rural police intervened and assured to conduct a thorough probe into the “suspicious death” of the girl.
