March 13, 2015 08:33 am | Updated 08:33 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Two-year-old Mounika, kidnapped near the High Court two days ago, was reunited with her parents early on Thursday. The child was rescued from Guntur in Andhra Pradesh following the arrest of Hanumanth Rao who had allegedly kidnapped her.

Mounika went missing from her parents’ tea stall on Wednesday morning. Her parents approached the police later in the day following which the police formed special teams and traced the girl. The police collected the footage recorded by the CCTV cameras installed at the High Court and showed it to people around the court premises.

A typist identified Hanumanth Rao and also provided his mobile phone number to the police. Based on the tower location the police traced the man in Guntur. “He kidnapped the girl near the High Court and took her to Guntur by train. The man planned to sell the girl in order to earn some money,” Additional DCP (South) K Babu Rao said.
