KG to PG scheme to see the light of the day

To be launched in the next academic year on an experimental basis

The brainchild of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, KG to PG free and compulsory education scheme, will see the light of the day in the coming academic year, at least on an experimental basis. One residential school each will be set up in every Assembly constituency, to start with.

The decision to set up one residential school in every Assembly Constituency as part of the scheme was announced by the Chief Minister on the concluding day of the two-day Collectors’ Conference here on Saturday. He explained that the basic objective of the scheme was to impart quality education to children without being discriminated on caste and socioeconomic status.

He suggested that the new education system should make the students of Telangana ready to take on the competition, adding that teaching should be in English medium without neglecting Telugu.

“The idea is to create an education system where children of even IAS and IPS officers would study,” he said.

Asking the officials to conduct meetings at different levels to welcome suggestions on KG to PG education, the Chief Minister said primary education, at least up to third standard, should be imparted locally – in villages.

He directed the Collectors to keep a tab on primary schools in villages by ensuring that all basic facilities were provided. On the implementation of welfare schemes, Mr. Rao directed the authorities to clear the applications for ‘Kalyana Laxmi’ and ‘Shaadi Mubarak’ schemes within two days and pay the money before the marriage of girls concerned.Market facility

Collectors, Joint Collectors, Mayors and other officials attending the Collectors’ Conference visited Monda Market in Secunderabad and ‘Mahaprasthanam’, an eco-friendly crematorium developed under Private Public Partnership at Gachibowli by GHMC-Phoenix Foundation, on Saturday. The visit was aimed at studying the facilities and implementing them in the districts.
