Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao expressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi concern about security of Indians in the US in the wake of Srinivas Kuchibhotla’s killing in Kansas last month.

Mr. Rao in his letter to Mr. Modi also recounted the killing of Warangal’s Vamshi Chander Reddy in California, saying these incidents had shaken faith of Indians in the US. Terming the incidents hate crimes, Mr. Rao urged the PM to discuss these instances with U.S. authorities, even as he stated that NRIs in the US contribute handsomely to the development of both the U.S. and India.

Srinivas Kuchibhotla’s killing sent shock waves across the globe as it raised concerns of hate crime in the U.S. following President Donald Trump’s Presidential election. Mr. Trump however issued a statement condemning the killing and distanced himself from the perceived atmosphere of insecurity for migrants in his country.
