Security stepped up

In the wake of an encounter of seven Maoists in Maharashtra on Wednesday, the police have stepped up security arrangements for Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s three-day visit to Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalapalli and Jagtial districts.

Sensing possible intrusion of Maoists following pressure from the neighbouring Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh States, the Telangana authorities have intensified the security arrangements all along the borders and shores of river Godavari. Already, the district guards’ police have conducted combing operations since the last few days in Mahadevpur and Manthani forest areas.

The naxalites are observing Peoples Liberation Guerilla Army (PLGA) Week and Koyyur encounter anniversary from December 2.
