Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Thursday asked the chairmen of power distribution companies to complete the process of promotion of staff in these utilities in the next 15 to 20 days. He said that they should also get their new pay packages by June. An estimated 10,000 existing employees will get promoted and this will pave the way for recruitment of 13,500 new employees by TS Transco, he said.
The State could come out of power crisis thanks to the relentless work done by the employees and workers. The way Telangana state came out from darkness to light created a wonder all over the country, he said. “Linemen, engineers, officers and other workers have worked with commitment, often risking their lives to achieve what the State had, in the power sector. Except for agriculture, all others got uninterrupted 24-hour supply. But soon, farm sector will also get power 24 hours,” he said. “CMD TS Genco, D. Prabhakar Rao said 24-hr. power can be provided but wanted filling up of vacancies pending since 2012. He said if I give permission they will take the required number of employees and promote the existing ones,” this would be possible. “We have regularised 24,000 outsourcing employees. The total employees after the recruitment will be 75,000 and the Electricity dept. then will become the largest employer in the country. We will also examine the casual labour issue. Stop outsourcing and contractual methods. Hire as many as you require, give them good salaries and extract work,” he said. Mr. Rao was addressing a large gathering of employees, workers of the department who turned up in in large numbers to thank him for giving the nod for promotions and new recruitment.
The new recruits should join under the old guard. For supplying 24 hours power, we have to construct sub stations. Work hard and with commitment, the spirit of Telangana movement should reflect here. I am confident that you will do a good job and bring name and fame to the State,” the CM said.
