‘KCR is known for deceit and betrayal’

‘We neither asked for merger nor alliance. It’s Mr. Rao who offered to merge his party, make a Dalit the first Chief Minister’

March 17, 2014 12:02 am | Updated November 16, 2021 07:25 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

Telangana Congress leaders have unleashed their diatribe against the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leadership following the latter’s statement shutting the doors even for an electoral alliance between the two parties. The war of words is likely to intensify further in the coming weeks as the two parties get ready to poach into one another.

Congress leaders from Telangana have been guarded in their criticism of TRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao ever since the bifurcation Bill was introduced in Parliament hoping that the TRS would be merged with them sooner than later. However, dynamics of politics have started changing it all after the Telangana Bill was passed by the Parliament.

On Sunday, chairman of the Telangana Congress campaign committee C. Damodar Rajanarasimha opened the attack against TRS by accusing Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao of betraying and deceiving the Congress after voluntarily coming forward to merge or ally his party with the ruling party. “We neither asked for merger nor alliance. It’s Mr. Rao who offered it all and going back now”, he pointed out.

Further, it was Mr. Rao who had announced to make a Dalit leader first Chief Minister of Telangana, a Muslim leader first deputy-CM and he would remain a watchdog, but he had forgotten all now, the Congress leader said. “Thus, the TRS leadership has become the synonym for deceit and betrayal”, he alleged adding that Congress, on the other hand, had stood for its word and credibility on Telangana in spite of knowing well that it would be hit badly in Seemandhra.

Stating that AICC president Sonia Gandhi would address four election rallies in Telangana, dates and places for which would be finalised soon, the former Deputy Chief Minister said they had complete faith in the region’s people that they would back the Congress for fulfilling their six-decade-old dream.

TJAC leader joins Congress

Meanwhile, official spokesperson of Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) Addanki Dayakar joined the Congress in the presence of Mr. Rajanarasimha and other members of the campaign committee including Mohd. Ali Shabbir, P. Sudhakar Reddy.
