Nizamabad MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha struck a chord with the budding entrepreneurs when she compared her cultural organisation, Telangana Jagruthi with a Startup. She was talking on ‘The Long Road to Equality’ at the Angel Summit. She spoke on how she built the organisation with time in spite of odds. “In 2008, the organisation had very few members and by 2015, the members grew to 1.2 lakh.” She said that she wanted the women of Telangana to participate in the separate agitation and one idea helped her in her mission. “We selected Bathukamma festival, which was neglected in the erstwhile united State, popularised it and took women along.” Kavitha also pitched for 50 per cent reservation for women in education and other fields.
