Kavitha opens women legal assistance centre

Member of Parliament K. Kavitha inaugurated the Sakhi Centre newly built on the Government General Hospital premises here on Monday. It was constructed spending ₹37 lakh.

Speaking on the occasion, the MP said that the Sakhi Centre would play a key role in providing legal and medical aid and police assistance for women. She appealed to the women to approach the counsels at the Sakhi centre in need. She said that the Sakhi centre would help prevent attacks on women.

She said that the State Government was conducting Suraksha Day on every second Saturday to protect women rights and for their safety. Earlier, Ms. Kavitha along with the Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy distributed Bathukamma sarees to women at Rajiv Gandhi Auditorium.

Among those who attended the inaugural programme included Zilla Parishad Chairman D. Raju, MLCs V.G. Goud and Akula Lalitha, MLAs B. Ganesh Gupta and B. Govardhan, in-charge Collector A. Ravinder Reddy and TS NEDCAP Chairman S.A. Aleem and Mayor Akula Sujatha.
