Kasani Gyaneshwar, MLC and president of Hyderabad District Cricket Association, will contest the elections to Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) which are likely to be held in July.

The HCA is awaiting the court order on a petition filed by a club demanding appointment of a returning officer and publication of the eligible voters list before the AGM is conducted.

Mr. Gyaneshwar, whose proclaimed aim was to ensure genuinely talented cricketers get the financial support, said he was disgusted with the HCA functioning.

“The post for which I will contest and the panel will be decided later. I welcome anyone who would expose the corruption in HCA,” Mr. Gyaneshwar said. “Honestly, I feel that I found more backstabbing in HCA than in politics,” he quipped.

“It's sad that HCA officials forgot the efforts I put in as Ranga Reddy Zilla Parishad chairperson in getting the land allotted for the construction of Rajiv Gandhi Stadium (Uppal),” he complained.
