The inscription bears testimony to the historical significance of the place. It reveals that the tank (Bayyaram cheruvu) was constructed by Mailamamba in memory of her mother Bayyamamba, wife of King Mahadeva of Kakatiya dynasty. Engraved on four sides of the stone in Telugu, Kannada script of Sanskrit language, the eight-foot-high stone inscription contains 71 Sanskrit verses etched in various metres in length. Photo: G.N.
