A candlelight rally by family members of those who lost their lives in the fire that consumed a Volvo bus in Palem of Mahbubnagar district on September 30, marked the agitated plea for justice.

The rally at the Kasu Brahmananda Reddy Park here on Saturday evening, had young members of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and members of the State unit of the All India Students’ Federation (AISF), expressing their solidarity with the family members of the victims.

‘Raging Fire’

Titled ‘Aarani Mantalu’ (Raging Fire), the struggle was initiated by Dr. Sudhakar on the banner of the JAC of Palem Bus Fire Accident Victims’ Families.

Among the demands of the agitators are ex-gratia of Rs. 25 lakh for each of the victim, a government job for one eligible member in the family, arrest of the bus allegedly owned by J.C. Prabhakar Reddy, younger brother of former Minister J.C. Diwakar Reddy and also those involved with Jabbar Travels, the name on which the bus was being run.
