Just hype, says YSRC

Irrigation advisory board meet not convened

: The YSR Congress has demanded that the Telugu Desam government announce dates for release of water to farmers “rather than putting up shows like Eruvaka.”

The government lacks sincerity in ensuring welfare of farmers and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had claimed agriculture as “wasteful activity” in the past. “It is ridiculous that Mr. Naidu is now harping on farmers welfare,” YSRC spokesman K. Parthasarathy said. The government’s commitment could be seen from the fact that it was yet to convene meetings of the irrigation advisory boards for finalising the plans for the kharif season which had already commenced.

He alleged that Mr. Naidu’s “anti-farmer policies” were exposed several times in the past and said the Chief Minister should instead announce concrete programme relating to release of water, supply of quality seed to farmers and complete waiver of the farmers’ loans. Farmers had been pushed into debt trap due to the faulty policies of the State government and the Chief Minister was trying to sidetrack the issues through Eruvaka and related programmes.
