Former Chief Minister K. Rosaiah on Sunday recalled the high standards of journalism in the past and regretted that it was not the same anymore.

He was addressing the gathering at the birth centenary celebrations of Sivalenka Sambhu Prasad, former editor of Andhra Patrika, and recalled how the electronic media had reported something that happened to him while on a trip to Nagarkurnool on Sunday.

Mr. Rosaiah said that while he was climbing the stairs he missed a step and momentarily lost balance, only to regain it with assistance. But the television channels put out scrolls deducing all sorts of things, he said, recalling how he had received phone calls from his grandchildren asking him if he was all right.

Such a case of misreporting never happened in the past, particularly more so with dailies like the Andhra Patrika, the former Chief Minister said, heaping praise on Sambhu Prasad and his family members who were present.

The birth centenary celebrations were held under the aegis of the Andhra Pradesh State Cultural Council and Mr. Rosaiah released a souvenir on the occasion.
