JNTU staffer held for cheating 22 students

A JNTU employee working in the book binding department was arrested by the KPHB police on Wednesday for cheating 22 students and taking Rs.10.5 lakh from them. The accused, Francis (44), had promised the students that he would help them clear their back logs if they paid him some amount.

According to officials from the KPHB police station, a JNTU student named Adnan Ahmed, resident of Toli Chowki, had lodged a complaint stating that Francis had taken money from him to help him clear his back logs. The accused took Rs.20,000 per subject from him and 21 other students as well, with the amount totalling to Rs.10.5 lakh.

Like that, Francis had taken different amounts from the students. Based on the complaint, the KPHB police arrested Francis, and registered a case under section 420 of the IPC for cheating the students. The money he took from them was yet to be recovered, said the official.
