With no surprises and equal weightage to Intermediate first and second years, and comparatively a moderate paper tested the calibre of the aspirants in the JEE Advanced held across the country on Sunday.
However, students felt that physics paper was tougher than mathematics and chemistry held in the morning and afternoon. More than 1.7 lakh candidates are testing their luck for admission into IITs across the country.
Analysts said both the papers had 10 versions ranging from 0 to 9 and all of them had the subjects in the same order - physics, chemistry and mathematics. Experts from TIME institute said that the pattern of questions and the marks distribution were exactly the same across the three subjects. There were three sections in each subject.
In Paper-I each subject carried a maximum marks of 61 and the total was 183 marks. Paper-II too carried a total of 61 marks per subject with the total being 183 marks. So the JEE Advanced this year was for 366 while it was 186 marks each last year.
Teachers said that candidates who had been regular and had developed deep conceptual understanding and analytical abilities with practice would score good marks.
