The majestic Chowmohalla Palace serving as an idyllic backdrop, a 50-member symphony orchestra regaled an audience of music lovers at a peace concert at the palace gardens on Friday night.
With 35 members of the ensemble being tender-aged kids, whose nimble fingers played the violin and guitar with aplomb, the orchestra was a memory that many in the audience will cherish for a long time to come.
Not to forget the children, members of Young Stringz, a music band formed by a budding musician, Gifty.
Little charmer
The instrumentalists included little Sam, who just completed his upper kindergarten, playing a guitar as big as himself.
The members of the AP State police band played different instruments, from trumpets to timpani and clarinets to cello, flute and tuba; whose renditions made the evening a memorable music affair. Mr. Gifty was the conductor of the concert.
“For the last six months, there has been lot of tension in the city. I thought this peace orchestra was appropriate at this point of time,” said Mr. Gifty. “Music unites us all irrespective of our caste or religion.”
“Music is a way to unite people and Young Stringz has made it possible through this peace concert,” said Secunderabad MLA and actress Jayasudha. “It is extremely difficult to learn a musical instrument and even more difficult to master it,” said APTDC chairman Swaranjit Sen, observing the young instrument players in the orchestra. “I can say what we are witnessing today is not just music which will feed our hearts, minds and souls today but [are] the foundation for future.”
