A flurry of activity marked the return of Kadapa Member of Parliament Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy to the city on Monday with several Congressmen, including three MPs, 11 legislators and a Minister calling on him to discuss the ‘political situation’.

A staunch supporter, Rural Development Minister Vatti Vasanth Kumar was among the earliest callers soon after Mr. Jaganmohan arrived at the Chief Minister’s official residence at Begumpet.

Besides K. V. P. Ramachandra Rao, Advisor to the Government, Public Affairs, two other MPs, Kanumuri Bapiraju and Sabbam Hari, also called on Mr Reddy.

Pledge support

All those who met him made it clear, albeit in a mellowed tone, that they would continue to be part of the ‘Jagan as Chief Minister’ campaign. Actor-turned-politician Jayasudha, Bikshapathi Yadav, D. Sudhir Reddy, K. Lakshma Reddy, M. Kavitha, D. Padmajyothi, Botsa Appala Narasaiah, T.Jayapraksh Reddy, K.Nageswara Rao, Raji Reddy and B.Satyavathi were the MLAs who interacted with him.

Government Whip in the Legislative Council, N.Sivarami Reddy, Jupudi Prabhakar, MLC, and Gone Prakash Rao, Sai Prasad Reddy, PCC general secretary B. Karunakar Reddy, secretary K. Sridhar Reddy, Amadavalasa Municipal Chairman B. Ramesh were also among those who called on Mr.Jagan.

Later talking to reporters separately, Ms. Jayasudha said she would continue to pitch for Mr. Jaganmohan as Chief Minister, in accordance with the wishes of her voters and awaited eagerly for the high command’s decision.

The credit for her victory went to the party and the welfare programmes implemented by former Chief Minister Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy, she said.

Appeal to Congress men

Tanuku MLA Mr. Nageswara Rao expressed the hope that the “political uncertainty” in the State would end after the Assembly elections in three States.

CLP meet soon

Claiming that the Congress Legislature Party meeting would be convened soon, he said the high command would take an appropriate decision after the elections on making Mr. Jaganmohan the Chief Minister.

Mr. Prabhakar Rao urged all Congress leaders who had benefited from Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy to support Mr. Jaganmohan’s leadership, as the former’s ideals needed to be carried forward.

Delay in probe

Criticising the delay in the inquiry into the helicopter crash in which YSR was killed, he alleged that the voice cockpit recorder appeared to be censored.

Former RTC Chairman Gone Prakash Rao demanded Chief Minister K. Rosaiah to apprise the high command of the “factual political situation in the State”.

Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) secretary K. Sridhar Reddy demanded that Mr. Jaganmohan should be made Chief Minister for the Congress’s survival.

Similar sentiments were expressed by cine actor Vijaychander.
