ITC's initiative on waste management

June 27, 2010 03:32 pm | Updated 03:32 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

ITC Limited, in association with the Ramky Group of Hyderabad, will organise an event on July 1 involving 50,000 schoolchildren, to commemorate the day as the ‘National Recycling Day'.

It will be part of ‘Wealth out of Waste' (WoW), the joint waste management and recycling initiative.

The event to be held in the Nizam College Grounds will have Chief Minister and other Ministers from the State and Centre participating to propagate the significance of recycling and effective waste management.

India, by dint of being a conservative society, has good ‘reduce and reuse' percentages, and generates waste well within the global limits, said Gautam Reddy, Director, Ramky Group, at a press conference.

Vice-president (commercial) of ITC Paperboards and Speciality Papers Division, Jogarao Bhamidipati, said 60 per cent of the recyclable garbage can be used as raw-material for production of paper.
