I-T officers appointed to oversee poll activities

B. Venkateshwar Rao, Additional Director of Income Tax (Investigation), Hyderabad, has been appointed the State Income Tax nodal officer in order to oversee election related activities of the Income-Tax (I-T) department in Andhra Pradesh.

The State I-T department has also appointed 10 other Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officers as District Nodal Officers to supervise the same in 23 districts of the State.

The appointments were made as per the direction of the Election Commission of India.

Further, 67 I-T officers have been appointed as Assistant Nodal Officers to assist the District Nodal Officers.

A 24-hour central control room with a toll-free number, landline number, mobile phone, fax number and email has been set up in Hyderabad.

The public can contact officials regarding movement of cash, jewellery, and other valuable items if found being distributed among voters.
