Setting their sight on a world record by surpassing Uttar Pradesh’s 10-lakh plantation drive in a single day, the Hyderabad Software Exporters Association (HYSEA) is planning to plant 25 lakh saplings in 24 hours. The green initiative has been planned by the IT body as part of its 25th anniversary celebrations. The massive plantation drive will be taken up on July 7 in more than 50 locations in Hyderabad and its surroundings.

The members of HYSEA have already procured about 15 lakh saplings from the Telangana Forest Department. Efforts are on to rope in NGOs, schools, government agencies and individuals to take an active part in the initiative. The plants varieties that will be planted in the drive include medicinal, fruit-bearing, vegetable, avenue and shade-giving.

The locations include open areas near lakes, government owned spaces, parks and others.
