Isolated heavy rainfall predicted in State today

August 19, 2017 10:37 pm | Updated 10:40 pm IST - HYDERABAD

Overcast skies brought scattered, but light rainfall in the city on Saturday. Weathermen have predicted isolated heavy rainfall in the State on Sunday.

Patancheru area in Greater Hyderabad received maximum rain of 1.7 cm on Saturday, followed by northern and eastern parts of the city. Malkajgiri recorded 1 cm rainfall while other areas around Secunderabad had even lesser rainfall. Weathermen attribute the rains to low-pressure conditions prevailing along north coastal Andhra Pradesh and associated upper-air cyclonic circulation. Until middle of last week, Telangana had deficient rainfall in this monsoon to the extent of 16 percent but as on date, both Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy have received higher than normal rainfall, according to the Telangana State Development Planning Society.
