Is it ‘talaq, talaq, talaq’ ?

At the minority convention held the other day, Congressmen were at their virulent best. They poured out their angst against the Majlis, their one-time ally, for snatching two seats from them in Maharashtra.

The Congress leaders tried to outdo one another in lambasting the Majlis and the Owaisi brothers. Rajya Sabha member, V. Hanumnatha Rao, went to the extent of announcing ‘talaq, talaq, talaq’ to the Majlis. The audience erupted in joy and vowed to teach a lesson to the Majlis in the GHMC polls. A senior Congressman was heard saying it would be better if the party workers showed the same enthusiasm in the old city.

Better days for Hussainsagar lake?

Hussainsagar lake in the heart of the city always keeps popping into news. But never before had it taken the centre-stage the way it is now. Thanks to the grand plans being unveiled by the Chief Minister, K. Chandrasekhar Rao on emptying the polluted water body, cleaning it and refilling with fresh water and also lining up skyscrapers along side, the talk everywhere these days seems to be about Hussainsagar.

There are promises of funds required and committees being formed to work on the water body on these lines. The lake which was badly polluted from inflows of sewerage and pollutants for decades has been slowly improving due to a series of measures taken up to cleanse it. The Chief Minister now wants it to be emptied and cleaned in the summer. Is the coming summer going to usher in better days for Hussainsagar?

Conflicting views

There is a hue and cry among public over lack of proper medical services in Government teaching hospitals during the 57-day old medical strike junior doctors. The Government have, however, consistently maintained that medicos do not have any active role to play in hospitals.

In fact, the other day, Deputy Chief Minister T. Rajaiah, who also holds the health portfolio, while interacting with press persons said that the impact of the strike was not much. “Junior doctors are responsible for maintaining patient’s records while the major work is always done by senior doctors. In fact, senior nursing staff of the hospital is capable of handling the work assigned to junior doctors,” the minister maintained. Thanks to the divergent views, the medicos and health authorities are yet to reach a middle ground!

The real Bond in Sania’s life

Telangana Brand Ambassador Sania Mirza is known to pull no punches in making her point. It was once again evident when she interacted with the media few days ago on the occasion of a prominent movie channel Sony Pix TV announcing promotions of James Bond movies with her on the centre stage.

After the initial seemingly innocuous questions, came the missile about her interest in joining movies. “I say a firm no to any Wood whether it is Bollywood or Hollywood. Though, it is a hypothetical query about what I would will do if I get offers to act in movies.”

After she named Pierce Brosnan as her favourite James Bond, she was well prepared for the more cheeky ace sought to be served on her. Who is her Bond in real life? “He is right now in Pakistan (referring to former Pakistan cricket captain and her husband Shoaib Malik),” she said with a big smile.
