Four inter-State gang members were arrested by the city police on Sunday on charges of stealing 38 kg silver ornaments from a jewellery shop at General Bazaar, Secunderabad a few days ago.
Silver articles weighing 20 kg were recovered from the arrested persons - Mahinder (22), Ramesh, 20, and Dinesh, 24, all natives of Rajasthan, and Kailesh Vyshnav, 24, of Yaswanthpur, Karnataka.
Mahinder's associate Navratan, 24, from Rajasthan is absconding, police said.
The gang drilled a hole from the storeroom and entered Jalaram jewellers in General Bazaar and made away with 38 kg silver ornaments and Rs.2 lakh cash. Police said the gang committed the offence to get money for starting new business in their respective native places.
While they were proceeding towards Advaiahnagar crossroads in Secunderabad, police nabbed Mahinder, Ramesh and Dinesh.
Racket busted
In a separate case, police arrested three persons for preparing forged educational certificates of various universities. The arrested have been identified as M.C. Viswanath, 22, of Yousufguda, Vinod Kumar, 23, of Sanjeeva Reddy Nagar, and Syed Yousuf, 27, of Tolichowki.
Over 120 forged certificates of different universities, 17 government rubber stamps, a computer and three mobile phones were seized from them.
