Internal committee on zonal postings soon

June 24, 2017 11:41 pm | Updated 11:42 pm IST - HYDERABAD

A high-level meeting on Saturday on the abolition of the zonal system with regard to appointment and transfer of government employees resolved to constitute an internal committee to determine the modalities.

The meeting, held by Chief Secretary S. P. Singh, decided that a committee, with secretary-level officials from General Administration, Finance and other departments, would be formed to monitor the process of grouping the employees between district and State cadre posts from the existing zonal and multi-zonal posts, according to sources.

In principle, gazetted officers would be considered State-level posts, and non-gazetted officers district-level. However, deliberations would be held with all stakeholders before a final decision was arrived, sources added.
