When the facility gets ready at Miyapur, close to a bustling Mumbai Highway, the Inter City Bus Terminal (ICBT) taken up by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) promises to be a major infrastructure and transport hub of the city.
Proposed on Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode, the ICBT would spread itself over 55 acres in Serilingampally mandal on a site that is 2 km from Miyapur X roads and almost same distance from the proposed Metro Rail terminal there.
It has been envisaged to provide 1 lakh sft of commuter and passenger terminal space and ease the pressure on an already choking city road network. The ICBT would earmark bus bay and platforms for outstation buses apart from creating infrastructure for 1,000 buses to idle along between their arrivals and departures.
Towards providing connectivity to the outstation buses from the city, the project looks at setting up exclusive space for the city buses and for the purpose 30 bus bays would be built.
Adequate parking meant to accommodate 2,000 two-wheelers, 100 three-wheelers and 200 four-wheelers has been incorporated in the project plan.
Estimated to cost around Rs.100 crore that include cost of construction, project development fee, lease rentals and interest during the construction, the ICBT also includes a budget hotel, minimum of one-star category, with 100 keys apart from two restaurants with 100 covers each and 750-capacity dormitories for the drivers.
The other features include a health centre, ATMs and Bank Extension Counters along with office space meant for Road Transport Authority (RTA), HMDA, Traffic Police, Insurance and others.
The HMDA had already invited parties interested in the project .
