A meeting to sensitise and create awareness on security amongst the trader community of Old City was organised by the south zone police here on Thursday. The meeting was held in view of the recent bomb blasts at Dilsukhnagar that claimed the lives of 16 people and left more than a 100 injured.

Addressing the meeting Deputy Commissioner of Police, South Zone, Tarun Joshi, advised shop owners and association members to install closed circuit surveillance cameras in their establishments. He asked the traders to ensure that the quality of cameras was good before installing them. “The police are always vigilant to prevent any untoward incident, but public participation is also necessary,” Mr. Joshi said.

He asked the traders to be vigilant and employ security guards to take care of markets and commercial establishments. “A strict vigil should be maintained in the vehicle parking area and if any abandoned vehicle is found it should be brought to the notice of the police,” the DCP said.

Trader association members and shop owners from the markets of Rikabgunj, Patel Market, Irani Galli, Gulzar Houz, Devan Devdi, Pathergatti and Laad Bazaar participated in the meeting.
