A 33-year-old software engineer committed suicide by jumping from the third floor of a building at Sanskruthi Township near Ghatkesar on Saturday night, police said.
The guard at the township noticed the techie’s body at around 5.30 a.m. on Sunday and informed the police.
Deepak S. Habib, a native of Karnataka’s Hubli, had joined Infosys on November 18 and had shifted to a flat on the first floor of the Sanskruthi Township on November 23.
He had also transported all his household articles from Bangalore, where he had previously worked.
Police identified him with the help of an ID card recovered from his room, where he had been staying alone.
The body was shifted to Gandhi Hospital and an autopsy would be conducted on Monday upon the arrival of his relatives, police said.
Blood stains
Ghatkesar Inspector V.V. Chalapathi said blood stains in Deepak’s bedroom and washroom indicate that the techie could have first tried to end his life by slitting his wrist using a nail cutter.
He might have later come to the third floor using a lift and jumped from there, the Inspector said.
No suicide note was found.
“We can ascertain the reasons behind Deepak’s suicide only after talking to his family members. We will also try to speak to his colleagues on Monday,” the Inspector said.
Police inquiries revealed that the techie was apparently disturbed ever since he shifted to the township.
