Outflows from Jurala project to Srisailam reservoir through river course continued from spillway and powerhouse discharges intermittently at Jurala on Saturday, even as there was fluctuation in the inflows into the project from upper reaches of the Krishna..
Release of water through the spillway that commenced around 10 pm on Friday was stopped around 3.30 am on Saturday following decline in the inflows but it was resumed around 6 am before crest gates were closed again after a couple of hours. Officials of the irrigation department stated that water releases from Jurala were expected to reach Srisailam reservoir on Sunday.
Power generation from 5 units of 39 MW each at Jurala continued from 10 pm of Friday to 5 am of Saturday, when three units were closed. Two units continued power generation throughout the day with the third unit run for a couple of hours twice in between.
Engineers at Jurala stated that inflows into the project declined to 32,000 cusecs by 6 am on Saturday, from 50,000 cusecs at 10 pm on Friday. It fluctuated between 32,270 cusecs, 40,000 cusecs, 26,829 cusecs, 40,000 cusecs, 31,000 cusecs, 25,000 cusecs and 33,000 cusecs till 9 pm on Saturday with power generation going on in four units. Water release to Jurala Left and Right Main Canals, Parallel Canal, Nettempadu, Koilsagar and Bheema lifts also continued through the day. Inflows into Almatti and Narayanapura reservoirs in Karnataka were steady at 26,889 cusecs and 4,829 cusecs, respectively.
Meanwhile, reservoirs in the Godavari basin also started getting good inflows in the State with Singur getting 8,041 cusecs due to good rainfall in the upper reaches of Manjeera river and release of water through the spillway of Karanja project in Bidar district in Karnataka. Similarly, inflows of 5,091 cusecs into Yellampally, 5,081 cusecs into Sriramsagar and 8,260 cusecs into Kaddam were also recorded on Saturday.
