A group of industrialists met Chief Minister-designate N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday evening and promised to make investments to the tune of Rs. 5,600 crore in Andhra Pradesh State in 12 sectors, including information technology, over the next two to three years.

The industrialists met him under the banner of the Industrial Development Forum (IDF) and had preliminary discussions on the proposals. Besides IT, the other sectors include electronics, solid waste management, pharma, healthcare, mining, infrastructure, hospitality and education.

Summit planned

According to IT honcho and IDF convenor, J.A. Chowdhary, a summit would soon be organised either in Vijayawada or Visakhapatnam where some MoUs were expected to be signed.

He said many companies were keen on taking advantage of the tax holiday and concessions that would be offered in view of the Special Category status being given to Andhra Pradesh. He said that more than 100 companies that had set up their units in Himachal Pradesh in the wake of the concessions offered there were also interested in coming to Andhra Pradesh.

He said the IDF would also take delegations to different countries, including China, Japan and the United States, to attract investments in Andhra Pradesh.

A detailed report would be submitted to the government soon after a study, he added.
