To help people shop for the upcoming Teej and Raksha Bandhan festivals, Mahila Jagruti is organising a Teej Mela at Abids Function Hall. Mayor Banda Karthika Reddy inaugurated the three-day exhibition here on Saturday.

“Teej Mela is organised to enable people to shop for festivities and domestic needs under one roof,” said Sangeeta Bhutada, president, Mahila Jagruti.

In its tenth year, the exhibition consists 100 stalls selling different merchandise ranging from designer saris, designer stationery, Jaipur jewellery, crafts and imitation jewellery to soft toys, showpieces, household appliances and crockery. Colourful ‘rakhis' of all shapes, designs and sizes are being sold at about 40 stalls in the mela.

The basic motto is to provide a platform for small entrepreneurs, especially women, said Meena Kasliwal, secretary of the organisation. Teej festival, largely celebrated by married Rajasthani women, falls on August 12 this year.
