Government should think of India’s glorious past, keep in mind the universities like Nalanda and Takshashila and liberalise education to allow international institutions. When we invest enough in education infrastructure, we can leapfrog ahead of others in the global arena, said G.V. Prasad, Co-Chairman and CEO, Dr.Reddy’s Laboratories.

This was not all. “Entrepreneurship is the single lever that can change the dynamics in society and education that will bring about much-needed shift in the world. Technology will drive the change and it is up to us to give students the best, leveraging Information Technology and Communications,” he said, throwing open the new, 200-acre campus of Woxsen School of Business in Kamkole village of Munipally mandal, 80 km away from the State capital on Wednesday.

If that was the message for the school management, Mr. Rao wanted the students to quit being driven by the thirst for a fat salary from first month, promotions and the like in the initial days of their career once they were out of the B-School. “Career placement is important but take the time out to find out, introspect, decide on what your passion is and then optimise on it,” he told them.

In his address, Founder of the B-School, Praveen Pula, gave the gathering an overview of what the ambitious, Rs. 500-crore project was all about. He said it was born out of a dream to build a world-class B-School in India, one that would address the gap between the requirements of corporates and aspirations of students. “Woxsen vows to bridge this gap and bring practitioners closer to the bright young minds of India, the brightest of whom are here in our classrooms here,” he stated, confidently.

Mr. Praveen said that encouraging entrepreneurship and incubating them would be a focus area at Woxsen, pointing out that they promoted entrepreneurship through Woxsen Trade Tower, a multi-level process. Students would be given opportunities to test and refine their ideas through a vetting process and overseen by faculty, external mentors and fellow students. Those who qualify would be subjected to more scrutiny and then get an opportunity to seek funding from the Woxsen Fund, an investment corpus, he explained.
