Member of Telangana Legislature and president of National Backward Classes Welfare Association R. Krishnaiah has said BCs would oppose any decision to include others castes like Kapus, Gujjars and Jats in BCs for reservation benefit.
Addressing a meeting of BC leaders across the country along with Pondicherry Minister Malladi Krishna Rao here, Mr. Krishnaiah said there was a historic need for providing reservations to backward classes in Parliament and State legislatures and demanded that the Prime Minister take the initiative soon. The number of elected representatives belonging to BCs in assemblies and Parliament was just 14% while their population was above 50%.
