The road between Moosarambagh and LB Nagar turned red in real terms on Sunday.

The red flags that were put up all the way from Moosarambagh to the meeting venue got an additional red tinge by the march of the red shirt volunteers through the more than five km route on the arterial Vijayawada highway known for the traffic density. The city police reportedly contemplated to impose restrictions on the traffic movement so that the commuters were not put up with any hardship.

But the manner in which the hundreds of red shirt volunteers organized themselves made them heave a sigh of relief and allow the traffic flow as usual. The volunteers ensured that there was not a single obstruction all through the more than 5-km route and won accolades from the passersby.

Yechury quotes from Mahabaharat

CPI (M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury’s quotes from epic Mahabharat drew wide applause from the gathering as he drew parallels between the CPI (M) and BJP. The BJP, he said, was dominated by two out of the 100 brothers of Kauravas. Though Kauravas were 100 brothers, the names of only Duryodhan and Dushyasan find mention in the epic. Likewise, there were many stalwarts in the BJP, but the names of only two – Narendra Modi and Amit Shah – figured in the public domain.

Mr. Yechury said the Left parties were like Pandavas, few in number but firm on removing the Kauravas from their seat of power.

Telangana armed struggle remembered

The public meeting of the CPI (M) was full of praise for the people of Telangana, the land of the world renowned armed struggle.

The party said it was hopeful of the same spirit of the armed struggle to be repeated in the coming days from Telangana which was the birth place of revolutionary ideology. “I am confident with the overwhelming success of the 22nd national congress that Telangana’s meeting will mark the beginning to regain the communist legacy,” CPI (M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury said.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan recalled how the armed struggle had ensured that land reforms had become the point n national agenda because of the armed struggle which was a beacon of light to several movements across the world and source of inspiration for revolutionary forces.
