‘Implement 12 p.c. quota to Muslims’

July 04, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:53 am IST - HYDERABAD:

The TPCC has alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar is trying to deceive Muslims further by announcing hosting ‘Iftar’ parties instead of implementing the 12 per cent reservation to them, promised during the run-up to elections.

President of TPCC N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council Md. Ali Shabbir and former MP Mallu Ravi said here on Friday that it is Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao’s conspiracy to divert the attention of Muslims from his promise of 12 per cent reservation by announcing iftar parties, distribution of clothes and honorarium to imams.

They pointed out that Mr. Rao had reiterated the promise of reservation during the iftar hosted by the government last year but remained unfulfilled so far besides providing the judicial status to the Wakf Board. Addressing a press conference here, the Congress leaders sought to know the status of another promise of the Chief Minister to resume the encroached Wakf properties. “Muslim community is not longing for iftar parties or a pair of clothes as announced by the Chief Minister but they are awaiting the 12 per cent reservation in education and employment opportunities,” the Congress leader said.
