The Kagaznagar Municipal Council in Kumram Bheem Asifabad district is faced with an impasse following differences between Commissioner B. Tirupathi on one side and the entire 28 member Council led by chairperson C.P. Vidyavathi on the other.
Both the parties have filed police cases against each other, the former preferring to file a case under the provisions of SC, ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against one councillor who is alleged to have abused him in the name of his caste.
According to Kagaznagar DSP P. Sambaiah, the Council had resolved to surrender the services of Mr. Tirupathi to the Municipal Administration Department charging him with misusing his position.
He was accused of spending ₹ 50,000 from Municipal funds without the approval of the Council.
Arguments took place between the councillors and the Commissioner when the latter prevented him from entering office on June 21. This also made him charge the councillors with hindering him in discharge of duties.
On Friday night, the councillors also filed a case charging him of preventing them from discharging their duties.
The police have registered cases.
